Writing Prompts for Consistent AI Video Scenes

Use a simple visual brief to keep characters, locations, and mood coherent from shot to shot.

Consistency comes from making the important decisions repeatable. A useful prompt does more than describe a beautiful frame; it gives every shot the same visual foundation.

Create a compact visual brief

Before writing individual shots, define the details that should not change:

  • Character: age range, silhouette, hair, wardrobe, and one distinctive feature.
  • World: location, period, weather, materials, and recurring objects.
  • Look: palette, contrast, lens character, lighting, and aspect ratio.
  • Mood: the emotion the audience should feel throughout the sequence.

Keep this brief short enough to reuse. Copy its essential details into every shot where continuity matters.

Separate constants from action

Treat the visual brief as the constant layer. Then give each shot its own action, composition, and camera distance. This prevents a new action from accidentally changing the character or location.

Change one variable at a time

When a frame misses the intention, adjust the smallest relevant detail first. Change the camera angle without rewriting the character. Change the expression without replacing the lighting. Small revisions make it easier to understand what improved the result.

Use the storyboard as your reference

Once the frames feel coherent, keep them as the visual source of truth for the video stage. The goal is not to repeat every word—it is to preserve the choices that make the sequence feel like one story.
